Nobody wants to lose a tooth, but when a tooth is cracked below the gumline, infected beyond saving, or a wisdom tooth is impacted and pressing on its neighbors, a careful extraction protects the rest of your mouth. At The Dental Atelier in Lynnwood, extractions are done in-house by Dr. Kunal Narang — with 3D cone-beam imaging to plan around nerves and sinuses, every level of sedation including IV sedation, and same-day appointments for painful teeth.
Often, yes. Before recommending an extraction we’ll look at whether a root canal, crown or periodontal treatment can keep your natural tooth. If removal really is the best option, we’ll show you the X-ray or 3D scan and explain why, and talk through replacement options — implant, bridge or partial denture — so you never end up with a gap that lets neighboring teeth drift.
Modern extractions are far gentler than most people fear. The area is thoroughly numbed; you’ll feel pressure but not pain. Nervous, or facing several teeth? Nitrous oxide, oral sedation or IV sedation lets you relax through the whole visit. Most simple extractions take 20–40 minutes, including numbing time.
A blood clot forms in the socket within the first day and acts as a natural bandage while gum tissue closes over one to two weeks. Protect it: no smoking, straws or vigorous rinsing for the first 72 hours, soft foods, and gentle brushing around (not on) the site. Discomfort usually peaks around day two or three and improves from there. If pain gets worse instead of better after day three, or you notice a bad taste or an empty-looking socket, call us — that can signal dry socket, which we treat quickly with a medicated dressing. Learn what to watch for in our guide to dry socket vs. normal healing and our wisdom teeth recovery guide.
The fee depends on whether the extraction is simple or surgical and whether a bone graft is placed; we quote it before treatment. Most PPO dental plans cover extractions and we’ll verify your benefits. If you’re uninsured, our membership plan and payment plans can help.
Do I need to see an oral surgeon for wisdom teeth? Usually not. Dr. Narang has advanced surgical training and removes impacted wisdom teeth in our Lynnwood office, with IV sedation available.
Can I drive home? After local anesthetic or nitrous oxide, yes. After oral or IV sedation you’ll need a ride.
How soon can I get an implant? Sometimes the same day; otherwise typically three to four months after a graft heals. We’ll map this out at your consultation.
Can I be seen today? We hold same-day appointments for dental emergencies. Call 425-774-0111.
